Parfum Satori

Satori - Chatsubo Sakura

eau de parfum

Woody

Description

Satori eau-de-parfum in a very exclusive and luxurious authentic Japanese porcelain perfume bottle: the Chatsubo

The perfume:

Satori is created around Kyara, the highest quality agarwood, which is known to have five tastes: spicy, bitter, sweet, sour, and salty. "I have expressed the five tastes by blending cinnamon and clove for spiciness, cacao for bitterness, and vanilla for sweetness. Sourness and saltiness was added with a delicate amount of bitter orange, oak tree, moss, and cypress, condensing the shades of the fragrance. These five tastes are unified by a woody scent based on sandalwood and frankincense, bringing out gentleness and warmth. I have tried to express the global philosophy of Japan."

The Agarwood, with greater value than gold, rises straight up from the incense burner like a posture of an elegant and dignified woman. The light softly enters the room and enhances the woman's gracious air. In a nostalgic silence, she leaves behind the rustle of her kimono and the invisible traces of her shadow...This perfume has preciously locked up the Zen sense of Japanese beauty. It is Satori's representative creation. The result: softness, warmth, translucence...

Rhys, perfume blogger forThe Scent of Man, gives Satori a 9.75/10 rating:
"The rich undertones of frankincense and sandalwood fortifies the base notes of this unisex perfume, lingering closely to the skin while projecting a wave of cosiness and serenity. I love how Satori stays close to the skin, giving my friends an element of surprise when I embrace them. I humbly applaud the perfumer for incorporating various Japanese elements and techniques into creating this fragrance and making an effort revitalizing the use of fragrant wood in today’s context once again. Rating: 9.75/10."

About the Chatsubo

This Chatsubo is decorated with Cherry Blossom (Sakura). Cherry blossom, or Sakura, is Japan's symbolic national flower, which symbolises Spring, new beginnings and happiness. Spring is celebrated in Japan by various Sakura festivals from April - May.

Tea was very costly in the 17th Century and was therefore kept safe and secure in special vessels. Once a year these vessels were carried from Kyoto to Edo in a special procession in order to serve tea to the generals of the Tokugawa Family. Satori's porcelain Chatsubo was inspired by this tradition and decorated with the typical Japanese cherry blossom.

The knots (Kumihimo in Japanese) are a form of traditional Japanese art. Each knot has it's own special meaning, and the ones on the front of the chatsubo are called âShin (formal) and the ones on the left are called âSohâ (informal)

Every Chatsubo comes in a special wooden box made of Paulownia wood, as has been the tradition for over 2000 years. Each box has been decorated by hand and contains soft cotton cloth dyed in kurkuma, to protect the procelain Chatsubo.

Finally, the box is sealed by a Sanadahimo, a traditional Japanese samurai ribbon, used for special ceremonies and occasions to protect valuable objects.
