Discover orange blossom perfumes

Just like neroli, orange blossom comes from the bitter orange tree (Citrus bigaradia). Between the green leaves and the orange fruits you will find the intensely fragrant white flowers. Orange blossom oil in perfumes has a sweet floral fragrance, reminiscent of honeysuckle and jasmine.

What is orange blossom?

To be even more specific, orange blossom is the blossom of the bitter orange tree, Citrus Aurantium.

The uses of these two fragrant ingredients from the (bitter) orange tree go back centuries.

Neroli and orange blossom are often used interchangeably as a term. There are small differences in production method and smell.

  • Neroli is the distillate from the orange blossom (extracted by steam distillation).
  • Orange blossom absolute (oranger absolute) is the aromatic extract from the same bitter orange blossom (extracted by extraction process).

Thanks to different methods of extraction, these oils have wonderful differences in the olfactive characteristics: whereas neroli is greener and spicer, orange blossom is more jasmin-like, with sweet grape and indolic shades.
