Warm and fresh at the same time, a sensual and elegant fragrance; subtle yet uniquely its own. A true classic. Invasion Barbare, created by perfumer Stéphanie Bakouche, is a bold and powerful scent that gives a modern twist to the classic fougère. The fragrance is built around an intense, leathery, and animalic heart, enriched with herbs, spices, and an overdose of thyme. Artemisia and costus add a deep, aromatic character.
The fragrance was created in 2005 for Parfums MDCI after a meeting between Bakouche and founder Claude Marchal. When Marchal first smelled the fragrance, he was immediately enthusiastic and decided not to make any changes. "Invasion Barbare was born from trust," Bakouche says in an interview with Cafleurebon. "Even today, Invasion Barbare remains one of the brand's bestsellers, and it has helped me establish my name in the industry. I will always be grateful to Claude Marchal for the trust he placed in me at that time."
What is particularly notable is that Invasion Barbare is especially popular in Russia, due to its daring and powerful character.

Fougere
A traditional fougère is characterized by citrus top notes, an aromatic heart of lavender, roses or geranium that lay on a bed of oak moss and hay smelling coumarin. The name Fougère stems from the original perfume Fougère Royale, created in 1882 by the iconic perfumer Houbigant. As Houbigant said at the time, "if God had given ferns a scent, they would have smelled like Fougère Royale."
