IF by R.K. by the French perfume and cognac house, Frapin, is a warm, soft and woody perfume with a slight sweetness due to hints of fig, tonka bean and cinnamon.
R.K. are the initials of the historic British writer and poet, Rudyard Kipling. His famous poem “IF” was the inspiration for perfumer Anne-Sophie Behagel to create this perfume. With Kipling’s upbringing in Bombay, this fine fragrance is also an homage to India, and more precisely to the forests of the Karnataka region where the fascinating sandalwood, Mysore, grows.
Paragraph from IF by R.K.:
“If you can fill the unforgiving minute
With sixty seconds’ worth of distance run,
Yours is the Earth and everything that’s in it,
And – which is more – you’ll be a Man, my son!”
Cinnamon, Sandalwood, Black pepper, Guaiac wood, Ginger, Cashmeran, Patchouli, Tonka beans, Fig, Bergamot
Frapin is a cognac house that also has a fragrance line. The Frapin family has been based at the Château de Fontpinot, in the heart of the Grande Champagne region, since 1270. Their cognacs and fragrances are a beautiful reflection of French cultural sophistication. The inspiration of the perfumes lies in the richness of taste, colors and scents of cognacs. The perfumes all exude an air of luxury, which is what one expects from a cognac house! They transport the wearer to a sense of beauty, celebration and seduction.
Woody
Woody fragrances are full of character and indeed very woodsy. They can be warm, soothing and creamy, but also dry and spicy. Key ingredients are cedar wood, patchouli, sandalwood and/or vetiver. Oudh (agarwood), Palo Santo and guaiac wood have also joined the perfumer's palet, just like the fantastic synthetics such as Javanol or Iso-E-Super.
