Karima Perfume Lounge

Karima Abdellatif, store manager

”I started working in the cosmetic branche at the age of 16, and I'm a true beauty addict. The last seven years I worked in product development. Next to fragrance I have a real passion for cooking. Smell and taste are, of course, linked to each other.”

Which fragrances do you remember from the past?
”I remember several fragrances. The forest, my grandfather and grandmother lived at the forest edge. I grew up in Amsterdam and if we went there for the weekend this scent made me very happy. I also remember the scent of roasted corn. Being half Egyptian, the smell of roasted corn transports me to Egypt. This snack is sold everywhere on the street. And of course, Chanel no.5, the perfume of my mother.”

What is your favourite perfume ingredient?
”Iso-E Super, ambroxan, musc, and vetiver.”

How do you describe yourself in a few words.
”Positive, caring, open-minded.”

portret Ans

Ans Brom

Ans had her own fashion company for years, has a massage studio and is still following courses to deepen her knowledge there. With her years of business experience, she will join the Perfume Lounge team. She will mainly help behind the scenes but you can meet her in the boutique from time to time.

Which smells do you remember from your past?
The new hip shop in the village (back in the 70's) sold stuff from India: incense, sandalwood, patchouli, mixed with the smell of leather bags... blissful! Also the scent of L'Air du Temps by Nina Ricci, that was my very first scent which I got it from my father for my birthday. After that the typical smell of the ferry to Vlieland when I was 10 years old made a big impression.
And of course, freesias, they remind me of my grandmother and give me a feeling of nostalgia for bygone times.

Scents you can be woken me up for?
Lilacs on the tree, jasmine on a balmy summer evening and lemon zest.

What is your favorite perfume ingredient?
Definitely the combination of rose and patchouli but I also like white musk and tuberose.
