Etruscan Water is a zesty fresh, though powerful, layered and complex fragrance by Francesca Bianchi.
Francesca Bianchi: “If I had to define Etruscan Water, I would call it a green-citrusy perfume with character – or with a dirty/sexy vibe! But such a definition cannot embrace its complexity.” She is right, her latest creation is much more than that. It is an intriguing powerful green chypre.
Francesca is originally from Tuscany, and she used to spend her summers in the south of Tuscany, where the Etruscans lived hundreds of years ago. A walk through a dense Mediterranean forrest brought her to beautiful little bays with the clearest water you can imagine. The salty fresh sea provided some welcome cooling from the sun, and you could smell the vegetation of the woods. This was the inspiration for Etruscan Water.
Another important source of inspiration was her personal interest in classic works of art in perfumery, especially the (manly) colognes of old. Not the ‘l’eaux’ but rather the powerful layered creations. That is how the first fragrance in her new collection came about: FREEFALL.
Petitgrain, Vetiver, Bergamot, Oakmoss, Immortelle, Mandarin, Basil, Ambergris, Grapefruit, Orris, Jasmine, Cistus labdanum, Musk
Francesca Bianchi's perfumes are sensual, intimate and provocative. "Made by Italian hands", a beautiful statement to describe this brand of Amsterdam-based and independent perfumer Francesca Bianchi. The Italian perfumer Francesca Bianchi started with her first creations in 2016. Luca Turin rated her Angel's Dust with 4 stars! At the age of 28, her fascination for essential oils started. This grew out to be a true passion which she converted into creating perfumes. We enjoy working together with this extremely passionate and crafty perfumer. With great pleasure we co-created Cuir Soyeux, a limited edition creation by Francesca, to celebrate our 10 year anniversary.
Chypre
A classic chypre is characterized by top notes of citrus, often bergamot; a full-floral heart, like jasmine and rose; and mossy, woody notes in the base, such as patchouli, oak moss, and labdanum. For those who appreciate fragranced complexity and layered compositions, chypres are very exciting and worthwhile to explore!
