Iris in perfumes
Iris gives perfumes a very nobel, high-quality, elegant dimension. The wonderful scented oil acquired from the iris is not extracted from the flower, but rather from the roots. The growing and drying of the roots is a long-lasting process of years, and the refined scent only arises during the long maturing process, in which the characteristic irons are being formed. Iris butter and absolute smell woody and refined with slightly flowery tones. In perfume this turns into something powdery, violet-like and it can smell pleasantly butter-like. Besides that, you can find iris-fragrances with a light metal tone, almost silvery.
