Papyrus de Ciane's opening is very green, lively and crispy. The galbanum combines harmoniously with bergamot and neroli, followed by dark and leathery heart notes and ends with a powdery soft accord of musk and cedar. Ciane is a river in Sicilie (Italy) near which the papyrus plants grow. Papyrus de Ciane is a perfume in which many green notes come together and in which Pierre Guillaume re-introduces the Mousse de Saxe, originally composed in the early 20th Century.
Pierre Guillaume Paris
Formerly known as Parfumerie Generale.
Pierre Guillaume's creations all have a strong identity and signature. He does not compromise and is totally independent, working from his atelier in Clermont-Ferrand. On the other hand, his fragrances never become too intellectual or avant-garde, and they are always very wearable.
One of the innovative techniques Pierre uses in his creations, is a process called Photo-affinage or photo refining, the flattening of olfactory peaks through ultra-violet rays. This technique gives his fragrances that characteristic liveliness in Cozé or that melancholic touch in L'Eau Circé for instance.

This is a shape shifter. Not so much on skin, but in my head: copier heat, grass, peppers, incense... they all take turns at catching attention in this modern take on papyrus leaf. Incense has the most stamina, still lingering after half a day, in a discreet way, very personal, nothing loud here. I don't get a lot of powder, to me this is very vegetal, but against a big city backdrop, as big cities contain fresh grass and asphalt. I find it quite captivating and against the odds: very wearable! A new favourite.
